Alternative Training
Health and fitness is not just about sweating it out in the gym. In fact, your body improves
when you are away from the gym, resting.
Whilst you are training in the gym to bring about specific physiological responses, it is also
important to train the mind. True relaxation brings about a faster and improved exercise
response. This can be achieved through such techniques as tai chi and meditation. Your body has
different zones, some of which may require more attention than others, as a qualified coach,
these can be identified and then exercises prescribed appertaining to your personal requirements.
There are six daily modifiable foundational health factors that should be carefully considered
in any appraisal of your health. They are:
Thoughts perhaps a little esoteric for some, but your
thoughts affect every aspect of your life. Consider how you feel when someone pays you a
compliment. Happy, jubilant, self-confident? Has anything actually occurred but a thought
process to bring about these emotions? Keep yours positive, learn to relax and life will be
better.
Breathing should be diaphragmatic, but most people
breathe inverted, from the chest. This has been scientifically proven to have a bearing on your
health.
Hydration a more familiar concept. We are 70-80 %
water and need to keep hydrated form good clean sources of water to maintain our health.
Nutrition the old adage is true, we really are what we
eat, and if your body is not getting excellent food/nutrients it can readily utilize i.e.
eating to your metabolic type how can you expect to remain healthy?
Exercise 8-12 % of the population regularly walk for
twenty minutes three times a week, that is a large amount of people doing a small amount of
exercise. Exercise doesnt have to be about getting to a gym, you can make small simple
changes to your life to bring about dramatic improvements.
Sleep when your body repairs itself. There are specific
cycles that we are all tuned into and should be aware of, how do animals know when to sleep?
Perhaps the most telling statistic of modern living is that currently one in three people will
suffer from cancer, by 2010 it is estimated that that figure will be one in two. Small
lifestyle changes can make a big difference.
